Description
90 Degree Long Turn Dryer Elbow - Overcomes Length of Run Issues and Increases Efficiency - 4"

The Dryer-Ell has a longer radius and smooth interior that reduces friction. It can be measured the same as straight pipe, eliminating the run-length reduction currently required for other elbows in most building codes.  We estimate it pays for itself in 2 years - energy wise.  UL studies show it is 500% more efficient than the standard 4" ell.

Questions and Answers
Q: What is the radius of the bend of the 90 degree long-turn ell? Has anyone used this ell inside the dryer for a rear to side vent conversion? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.
Asked by:  - 7/20/2014 (Submit an answer)
A: the center line of the elbow is a 10 inch radius, and I have had the question before about if it would fit or not, and have not had a chance to check or heard that it would. please add to the thread if you learn it does.

Q: Why is are the ends to large to fit regular 4" tubing?
Asked by:  - 8/4/2014 (Submit an answer)
A: In dryer exhaust ventilation, it is a requirement to keep the male-female ends of the pipe in such a way that the interior does not create a area for lint to build up on. Our long turn elbow exhibits these ends and actually was designed and mostly used in the attic or crawlspace in venting to the exterior.
Flex would fit over the male end of our elbow, but it was not originally designed to accommodate a flex connection.

90 degree long turn
Arrived quickly - constructed of heavy gauge materials - assembly easy but did not give confidence that it would stay assembled. Installed self tapping screws in the flanges to ensure the pieces would remain assembled. Would buy it again to get the reduction in resistance required.

90 degree long turn ELLs helped shorten drying time
My builder vented my dryer out the back of the house. The cheap aluminum foil hose was about 60 feet long. It was impossible to clean it out and I always feared a fire. So, I re-routed my vent system using 4" stainless steel pipe, two 90 degree long turn ELLs, and a Dryer Wall Vent - a total of 18 feet long. My drying time for heavy clothers was typically 60-70 minutes. Today it is 40-50 minutes with my new system which I attribute to less friction. There is also little or no lint build-up in the vent system because of the smooth interior.

Made a huge difference
I recently remodeled my laundry room and stacked my washer/dryer. That required moving the driver vent and so I also replaced the ~20yr old venting in place. I have a 25' run down to the crawl and out. Previously it had a 90degree and 2 other kinks. Now it has the 90degree long-turn ell and a straight run. The difference is amazing. The dryer is done so quick we think it must not have finished, but everything is dry. We used to have to run it twice for towels and blankets and now even stuff balled up in a sheet is dry. highly recommend

Difficult to assemble, but still a good product
The 90 degree long-turn elbow was difficult to assemble (it comes in two pieces) and didn't seem to be very secure after I got it together the best I could. I taped up all the joints for added assurance and air tightness. At the end of the day, I was happy with how the final install worked out since I was able to get my dryer vented without exceeding the maximum allowed length thanks to the efficiency of the elbow. I would buy this elbow again if I couldn't afford to take the 5 foot penalty from a normal elbow.

The Dryer-Ell saves the day
IRC building code allows a 35 foot maximum on dryer vents. I am at 33' 6" thanks to the Dryer-Ell. A regular 90-degree elbow would have cost me a 5-foot penalty which would have put me over. The installation was a snap, and I like the idea of having the smooth corner as this run goes up 12 feet before turning towards the outside wall. No worries about lint getting backed up in the traditional elbow. Great product with fast shipping. Thanks.

90 and 45 degree ell
The ells worked well to help meet code on a long run with a few bends. They were pretty easy to assemble for a novice, although they didn't include sheet metal screws. You should also plan on taping the seams shut.
