 Description
NEW MODEL- For existing construction - to be retro fit into an existing drywalled 2x6 wall. It is white powder coated and does not need to be painted. Does not include screws or pipe.  Please review the instructions at this link before purchasing as there may be obstacles and special tools needed. Since the majority of "mechanical walls" or walls behind the washer and dryer are deeper than 3.5 inches to accommodate the 4 inch dryer conduit and other mechanical fittings it is likely the Model 500 Retro Fit will be the most appropriate and efficient option. The Model 500 exhibits a round hole or port.

I have a bottom discharge and I turned the unit upside down. It worked great. The dryer is against the wall, my wife is happy, what more could I hope for.

Someone should have come up with this idea a long time ago. The difference between the old dryer vent box I removed and the new one is night and day. Great product! I'm 63 and I installed it myself. Just follow the instructions and think a little before you start.

Dryerbox 2x6 retrofit
Bottom line is that I'm very happy with it and the install instructions were very good. I did have a problem because the hole was in the wrong place for my exhaust pipe and the wall stud next to it. I had to take the dryerbox to a local metal shop and they filled the existing hole and cut a new one based on my measurements. Then it worked perfectly. I wish they had the option of buying one without the hole, so you could cut your own.

Dryerbox 2x6 retrofit
I'm 59 and the hardest part about installing this item was fitting myself between the dryer and the drywall. I should have taken the time to remove the dryer completely. I used a cutting tool on a Dremel to cut the drywall and base; a wood chisel and a tin snips. It took me about 1/2 hour to install. My wife believes that the dryer is operating more effeciently and we gained about 15 inches of floor space by having the dryer pushed back nearly flush with the wall.
